Hi, I’m Gay Barefield and I am so glad you are here!
I am a massage therapist and a life journey trailblazer who pursues simplicity on Big Sky Farm. Rule breaking has been my life, blazing new paths and turning “No” into a positive word. I left the corporate world in 1992 to open my own massage practice and to work on simplifying my life. My husband and I bought our farm in 1994 deciding that farm work was a much better workout than a gym membership. Boy were we right!
The things I have learned along the way in my own journey as a “trailblazer” are what I want to share with you. From this came the name “Zen Chick”, defining Zen as “a state of focus and simple living that brings together body, mind and spirit”. As a massage therapist focus and simplicity are very much a part of what I do, teaching my clients the easiest way to change “bad habits” and deal with their stressful lives. Living on a farm teaches you the same things, whether you are bush hogging pastures, working with horses or chasing chickens. Focus combined with simplifying your life will allow you to truly live the life that you love without the guilt, which is what we all really want to do.
Have I perfected all of these things? No. Every day is a process in learning and just like you some days are scattered and complicated. But I have come a long way, from being OCD in my 20’s (weren’t we all), very driven and changing careers in my 30’s, still driven in my 40’s but settling into my new career and now in my 50’s settling into my life, simplifying more and more!
I hope you will join the Zen Chick Community and move toward slowing down, simplifying and loving your life!
